The Thrill of Being "Dangerous" Part. 1

Navigating toxicity and predation within family and social systems and discovering the "historical coherence" that you are.

What does it mean to be “dangerous”?

Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author of Women Who Run With Wolves, uses the term “dangerous old woman” in reference to the crone: the one who knows, who sees, and who is not afraid. When we claim what is “dangerous” within us, we are not only holding, but honing our power, our edges, and learning to wield that power effectively.

This is a conversation for and about those who see through systemic toxicity and predation. You are the danger to these systems.

How can this be the case when so often these systems have nearly been the death of us or at the very least, left us feeling rattled and uprooted?

In many instances it is our perceptual acuity—our ability to see, sense, feel, and know what is off a bout a system that leads to the suppression and often abuse of those who do see and not only see through these distortions, but dare to call them out.

My guest, Krista Anderson, has coined the term “historical coherence” to describe the congealing of integrity that occurs in specific members of a family who somehow not only refuse to be subsumed, but who develop the courage to call out those behaviors and over the course of time break the cycles. These cycle breakers exist not only within family systems, but also for the collective.

So, if you resonate with being a “black sheep” in your own family system or see yourself as someone who sees through the toxicity and predation that is present in so many of our social systems, you may want to tune in and learn how to flip the script.

Krista and I are going to talk about our own histories of being people who see through systemic distortions, but also how we guide our clients through those experiences and help them reclaim not only their own instinctive integrity, but also the right to be “dangerous”—not to themselves, but to the very systems that attempt to silence their voices and even “take them out”.

You are the danger to these predatory systems—to the secret keeping, toxicity, and abuse. You always have been. Now, it’s time to flip that switch!
