Greetings Myth Seekers!
As last night was Samhain, or as we call it in modern times, ‘Halloween’, we now find ourselves, according to some cultures, on the ‘Day of the Dead’, or in the start of a new year as the pagan wheel turns.
The ‘Dying God’ is a god of sacrifice. He offers up his life and his flesh so that the circle of life may continue. And, as all ‘dying gods’ we can look forward to his resurrection through the Mother when the light returns.
Here, in the western hemisphere of the world, we are experiencing darkening days, longer shadows, lingering gray-blue mornings, and a sooner more sudden settling into dusk. Though our schedules may be telling us “Go, go, go!” Our bodies and the seasonal shift is inviting us to slow down. And so I will ask you:
How often, in our modern society, is healthy resistance to constant busyness pathologized as depression?
Something to think about as everything in nature begs us to slow down, take a moment, have bite, and rest.
Join me for a short chat about how we can honor this time through ritual and daily mindfulness to support ourselves mind, body, and spirit.
Oh, yes, and meet my new cat (who I am shamelessly exploiting while initiating her ‘familiar’ training), Purrsephone or Sephy for short.
Lotsa love,
~Justice
