I agree w some of this and disagree with some of it. I listened to Stephen A Smith talk about his views on the fuck up of the dem patty. I do believe they have decided what is best for everyone and think tbey know it all. Initially I was independent but then signed up as a democrat bcas unless I was democrat i could not vote in primaries. Major mistake in pur system. And proof that this democracy only works w dem and repu party but doesnt accept any other parties. I do disagree w u re this not being a misogynistic or racist country. This country was built on racism. So racism is in its dna. Misogyny the same. Like the white men controlled society ghru their own rules in religion this country is run by white men and tvey r scared to death of females. With good reason.
Other than that all I have seen is our govt no longer works. Historically we should be turning into a dictatorship. Maybe that is where we r headed. Time will tell. But our foundations are crumbling. And also I am not convinced yet that this election result was on the up and up. Time will tell with that also. But I do believe we all need to try harder to listen. Rather than talk. We need to listen.
Another thing I think about that really dawned on me the first time Trump got elected is that we really have to look at thing for it to come to light. And I think we as a nation are still coughing up the misogyny pattern big time. First go around with this, 2016, I was still deeply enmeshed in processing my own narcissistic wounding with my own father representing the most intimate encounter I had with it. I'm not in that in the same way, so I don't feel triggered by it like I used to. And I absolutely see the value in going through it as individuals and as a collective.
Yes, they (Dems) have alienated a lot people with their arrogance. The bipartisan system is designed to prevent real change. There are more than 50 ballot qualified political parties and many more than that at the state level, but they will never get a real chance because MSM will not cover them. Even Kennedy was not allowed to debate and if were, he might have legitimately "won". Maybe.
I absolutely agree that this country is deeply entrenched in misogyny and racism, but I do not see that as the ultimate motivator behind this election. I see Wetiko pretty much everywhere I look—and I think as a personality, Trump is repugnant. He reeks of narcissism and sexism. However, the Dem's absolutely engaged in widespread psychological abuse during the pandemic and their "party" is taking no accountability for it.
Trump will fail as "figurehead"; there is no way he cannot. He cannot possibly be as archetypically "good" or "evil" as everyone is pinning on him. He's just a reality TV star with a reprehensible vocabulary. And he physically does not look that well.
And to your final point: I don't believe any election is on the up and up—not for years. They are all corporate puppets. Some are simply less obtuse about it. It's literally what I have been screaming for months.
But listening is good and listening to the noise outside of my own echo chamber is what led to me to write this piece. I get why people are scared. I also see a lot predictive programming that is designed to make people feel that way and that in and of itself is evil.
I love your thoughts and your mind, Tracy. SO thank you for sharing!
I resonate with all of this. I am politically homeless too. I no longer vote, but I feel the country did make the best decision with the options available. I'm hoping RFK can really achieve his goals and #maha. That alone will be wonderful for everyone.
I hope they will support RFK in making some changes #maha is appealing to me. Some of Trump's plans are concerning. But he is bombastic and aggrandizing and I only believe he believes about half of what he says. So, we'll see.
Justice, I don’t mean you personally, as being heartless. I can tell from your writings that you aren’t. DeSantis and Abbot are good examples of who I was referring to.
Societies always have to balance what is best for the individual, referred to as agency, with what is best for everyone, called communion. In times of pandemic, what is best for everybody always takes the lead: even in Medieval times quarantining was used.
To complain about and resist attempts to contain a virulent disease just shows how selfish and heartless you are.
The best way to ultimately balance agency and communion is for most people to voluntarily use their agency and free will to work to make things better for the entire global ecosystem and every being in it. We will never achieve that level of mass consciousness with our current education system and our rampant willful ignorance.
I believe the people on the ground did the best we could to navigate the situation. Anyone should have the common courtesy to stay home when they are sick. That is basic. What is not basic was the other things I listed above: the suppression of information that did not uphold only a pharmaceutical solution, the deplatfroming of professionals who presented information which contradicted the MSM narrative, or he shaming of people who dared to question our right not to be injected with an untried substance. You may call me "heartless" if you wish. But some of the measures used agains the people in this time of distress were downright psychopathic.
I love to read pieces like yours. I agree and disagree with some things like science, but I totally see the point. Mostly my criticism towards the party is about wars now - it has lots of flaws. But yeah, like I remember one of your pieces on that man. You were the one who helped me understand narcissism. To that I am forever grateful. But yeah, I was voting for the lesser of evils because I feel also my rights as a woman and immigrant are threatened. Not only that, the human decency. I hate Christian fundamentalism and I think these people who vote based on faith live in a parallel reality because bigotry is all explicit in his wwords. And we fail to show them that. They think our concern is being blown out of proportion. Our rights. They are note but we can't convince them. I'll write a provocative piece later and you may like it too. I wish I could agree to disagree with more people like you, like we agree on most points and may disagree on others. But you are safe to have a conversation and I am sure you'd understand my POV. But with the amount of people who support him, I don't feel safe to have conversations. So here is to that. I love you and I am grateful to have met you. ❤
I'm glad to have met you, too! I have lots of criticisms for both "parties". Mostly that they are all corporate "puppets". I think the saddest thing is that "we" not you and me, obviously, but that the different "sides" have lost the ability to dialogue with each other. It is "othering" and ultimately dehumanizing to everyone and I think there is a design in that I won't be a part of. I understand that people feel vulnerable and afraid and I see hard times coming for our world no matter who is in office. We need faith in Live and in each other. I hope more people will come that and that we can make conversation "safe" again.
Yep! Yep-yeppityyep-yepyepyep! I always appreciate your candor and courage, Justice. Though, I'm not sure you have much of a choice - I find you to be a deeply authentic human who really can't choose to obfuscate or be inauthentic, except at great risk to your health. Ok, unqualified psychological profile complete! Suffice to say I agree with what you've expressed here and having heard Maryanne Williamson's latest message, she and whichever Dems she speaks for still have no intention of listening to the many of us liberal folks who have left the party in the last several years. They just keep doubling down and covering their ears. XO
Well, Sherry, your "assessment" of me is not far off. And that is what I am hearing as I pull my own ears out of the echo chamber. People feel abandoned by a "party" they can no longer "identify" with. And truth is a lot of "their" (the Dem's) actions are highly alienating. Berny Sanders even called them on it.
