Myth Seekers Ep. 1 (in the future these will be in the Podcast section.)
The tale of Vasalisa: A Journey of Initiation in Intuition & Discernment.
Hello Lovelies,
This is the introduction of Myth-Seekers, a vodcast/podacst in which we will explore myth and it’s relevance in working with the psyche as growth or therapeutic process.
I have always loved myths since I was a child. Every culture across the globe has its own myths and stories that speak of initiation and act as cautionary tales for when we are not acting in “right alignment”. The modern Disney versions are often sanitized stories that tend to revolve around the capture and rescue of the maiden by the masculine, and though Union is one aspect of our spiritual and psychological stories—there is so much more to investigate and explore.
This first video explores discernment and intuition as initiation. I share a bit about a client-session that brings this into practicality, mapped to an older tale, Vasalisa The Wise, as shared in “Women Who Run With The Wolves”.
Vasalisa is a pre-cursor to a rather “toned down” version of the well-known tale of Cinderella. In our telling of this tale, we meet Baba Yaga instead of the bubbly “bibbity, bobbity, boo” Fairy Godmother. The Yaga is a crone, and as all crones are wont to do—she tests our little heroine, thereby waking her intuition and discernment. This story came up recently in session and mapped to a client’s personal myth about utilizing her own discernment, and healing her own dark (shadow) family of origin wound that was manifesting as a nasty inner critical “inner” voice. It turned into quite the lovely alchemy with a take-away ritual for her “outer” world, as well.
